Mission
The mission of the Center for Precision Agriculture (C4PA) at the PMAS-Arid Agriculture University is to introduce and implement field scale precision agriculture technologies in Pakistan. The focus of C4PA is to achieve smart technologies transfer by developing and implementing collaborative research, on farm experimentation, education, and outreach programs through wide scale interdisciplinary partnerships with academia, industry, and farmers.
Founding of the Center
The Precision Agriculture Center was founded in September 2021 by the Patron in Chief, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman. Dr. Shoaib Rashid Saleem is working as the 1st Director of the Center and played an instrumental role in planning and hosting the first International Precision Agriculture Pakistan Conference (PAPC 2022).
Activities
The Precision Agriculture Center aims to carry out its mission of developing and implementing precision agriculture technologies in many ways. The Center is a hub for bringing people together to work collaboratively on problems related to precision agriculture. The Center is a platform for forging interdisciplinary research collaborations across disciplines, both within and outside the PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi. A series of seminars, workshop and other KTT activities are hosted by C4PA with the goal of sharing recent research being carried out from the Center to stimulate new ideas and interdisciplinary collaborations. Also, members of the C4PA are involved in teaching and other academic activities on Campus.
Looking forward, we hope to continue stimulating interest in precision agriculture among students and will also host workshops for researchers and professionals, and hope to organize the International Precision Agriculture Pakistan Conference every year.
